Voting: Mega Man Poll

Wow! Thanks for voting on our poll!
I didn't know so many people liked Zero so much!
Well, if anyone hasn't voted, be sure to do so soon!

My Holiday Game Reviews

I'm going to start with Sonic Unleashed, which many people have been really hyped up about.
Please note that I have not finished it

Sonic Unleashed: 7.5/10, B

It has some nice looking cutscenes, but the story sucks. The opening scene is great!
Story: 7/10

Sweet daytime levels, crappy night levels. To sum it up, the daytime levels are like traditional Sonic games that switch from 2D to 3D, and the night/Werehog levels are slow paced platformer 3D beat em' up type levels. The night stages suck so much this part gets two seperate ratings.
Daytime: 9/10, Night: 5/10

The controls are fine, but I've only tested Wii Remote and GC controller. Nothing out of the ordinary here, except for a few flaws, such as the dashing technique. Still, the slow paced Werehog controls bring this down a point.
Controls: 7.5/10

Okay sound, the voice acting for Chip is kind of weird though...... Sometimes he sounds old and sometimes he sounds young....
Sound: 8/10

The graphics are kind of flaky and weird looking sometimes, but that might be because I have an ancient TV.... The village people look creepy though...
Graphics: 7.5/10

OVERALL: It's an okay game, but try to avoid those Night stages!!!!

Noe: I have the Wii version of the game.

Regarding Mega Man

Okay, if you want more info about mega man go to the mega man wiki (HERE). Also I have a request for Andy: Can you make a new poll for "which is your favorite mega man series?", because you didn't add the zx series (which is my favorite). Also also, not to brag or anything, I've beaten both of the zx games. Siarnaq all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mega Man (original series)

WARNING!: This post may contain spoilers!!!

Since Joe just made a post about "Biometal" from the Megaman ZX branch of the series, in this post I will start to discuss the original Megaman games.

As I usually start with the characters, here they are!

The Team of Light Labs (story and character)
Dr. Light: One of the creators of "Mega Man". He worked alongside Dr. Wily and they founded "Light Labs" together. Robots created for household services by this team-up were seen as common enemies in the Mega Man games(for example, the Mettool as seen above). Later, they created Protoman who was (without going into much detail) a failure.
After this failure, the team created more robots: Mega, Roll, and the Robot Masters.
Dr. Wily was jealous and angry that Light got all the credit, so he decided to rebel and attempt to take over the world! He reprogrammed the Robot Masters so they would be vicious robots that only obeyed him! Mega said he would stop Dr. Wily, and he would fight! Light converted him into a fighting robot, turning him (oddly enough, his name was changed only to have "man" at the end) into Megaman!
Fun Facts: Dr. Light's Japanese name is "Right", and this is because there is no "L" character in Japanese, and is usually replaced with "R".
His Battle Network counterpart is Tadashi Hikari, Lan Hikari's grandfather.
Dr. Wily:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

A new Turtles game is coming out for the Wii!
Why am I so excited?
Well, it's because it actually looks like the best Turtles game in a long time, and maybe even one of the best overall games in a while!
It's very early in development though, and it doesn't have a name, but it's aiming for a 2009 release. The screens show it to be similar to Smash Bros., but looks way more interactive!
It has some awesome graphics, and is not really based off of any incarnation of the Turtles.

Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice/Ace Attorney

The Ace Attorney series of games are really fun! They are mainly focused on the defense attorney Phoenix Wright, and some cases that were important in his "life". The first case in the first game which is called "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" is only about a half hour long, but it helps introduce you to the concept of the game.

Here's an basic overview of what you do (not in any specific order).
1. Search a crime scene
2. Talk to suspects
3. Defend someone in court and look for things in witnesses testimonies (what the saw happen) that don't make sense

It sounds boring, but it's actually really fun!
Here's a demo of the fourth game. It doesn't spoil you really about the other games, but besides this demo, make sure to play the games in order!

PS: The games are rated T, and I've only played two of them, the first and last ones.

IncrediBots

IncrediBots is a fun physics game for the computer (that's free) in its beta stages. You don't have to download it either. I don't really want to go in too much depth (partly because I really haven't played it that much) but you should play it. You can even watch movies made by people with the engine. Click here to go to the website.

Sonic Unleashed- Opening Scene

This is video I was summarizing in the last post. By the way, the pic in the last post is of the Werehog, the mysterious thing Sonic turns into at night. Kind of like Dr.Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, isn't it?

Sonic Unleashed

Sonic Unleashed is a new Sonic game coming out for the Xbox360, PS3, and Wii.

----STORY-------- (of the opening)
Sonic Unleashed begins with an opening movie of a fleet of ships, then the zoom gradually gets faster and moves on to a cackling Eggman (main villain of Sonic series, wish he was still known as Robotnik!). Eggman notices something in the distance... It's Sonic arising from a blaze of flames! Eggman sends out his baddies to destroy Sonic, and shoots at him with cannons. Of course, Sonic makes these really cool moves and dodges the shots from the cannons, and "Homing Attack"'s a few of the baddies, jumps over the rest, and starts running again. Eggman himself joins the battle and shoots at Sonic. Sonic, of course, dodges. Eggman fake curses at him (He says "Why, you little!...."). Sonic runs past him, and eventually Eggman catches him with his hand. Watch it to find what happens next!

See what you can do with a little "Paint"?
I'm not finished yet though, but think it's kind of disturbing, so I'll probably never finish it.

Fire Emblem

If any of you would like to play Fire Emblem, you can get the 8th one for a pretty cheap price at Gamestop. It should be $13 dollars or less(I checked on the website!). This is the cheapest one that you can get, and the rest of them that are for more current systems are $20 or higher.

I also forgot to mention that Fire Emblem characters have been included in Super Smash Bros.
Here's a list!

Marth- Melee, Brawl- Fire Emblem 1, 3, and Shadow Dragon- Known as Mars in some unofficial translations

Roy- Melee- Fire Emblem 6, brief cameo role in 7 (AKA- Original US "Fire Emblem")- Son of Eliwood from 6 and 7.

Ike- Brawl- Fire Emblem 9: Path of Radiance, Fire Emblem 10:Radiant Dawn- Sounds stupid in Brawl when saying "AETHER!!!"

Awesomeness!!

Okay... look me in the eye (mentally) and tell me that... THIS... ISN'T... AWESOME!!!!!!!!

You couldn't tell me that it wasn't awesome could you? Liar!! This screenshot is from the game "Bloons Tower Defense 3". I was on level 50 (the last level) and I was rocking and rolling!! I just thought that you wanted to know that. See Ya!

Warbears Walkthrough

Warbears is one of the most difficult games ever. So I just thought that those people out there who get really frustrated with it deserve a walkthrough. If you intend on beating it then your going to need a walkthrough. Here it is: SPOILER ALERT! This is a walkthrough so some people might not want to see it si I'm going to make the text white so that you have to highlight it to read it.

OBJECTIVE ONE: GET KLA INTO THE BANK

Ryoh is on the roof. Alert the Groundhog nearby and kill him. Don’t get hit for a 50 points bonus.

Move over to the wireless antenna’s locked box and try to open it. Ryoh will inform you that the locked box is indeed locked. Use the speech bubble to alert the other Groundhog. He will give you the key, then challenge you to a duel. Kill him as well–don’t get hit for another fifty. Go to the left after you successfully kill him.

NOW. Here’s the fusebox puzzle made easy. Click on the top left box. This should make the entire thing turn red. Now click the middle. Now the top right. Now the bottom right. Now the top left. Now the bottom left.

Exit the fusebox and move him once to the left.

Now down to Lucas! Put the mouse over him and jump up on the car. Grab the drill and hop back down. Click the drill icon to drill into the wall, then hop on.

Mouse over Kla and hop on. Lucas will help him up. You’re in! 100 points

OBJECTIVE ONE — COMPLETE!

HIDDEN OBJECTIVE A: FLOWER NUMBER ONE

As Lucas, hop off the drill. Then click the drill icon again to remove it.

Now to Kla. Mouse over him and click on the waterdrop to turn on the tap. Now, again. Now again–o noes it’s broken. No, this is good. Leave the window open. Eventually the water will flow over the windowsill and grow a flower. Flowers bring joy–AND 100 points.

HIDDEN OBJECTIVE A — COMPLETE!

OBJECTIVE TWO: INFILTRATE FIRST FLOOR OFFICES

Mouse over Kla and charge the battery–you won’t get zapped don’t worry. After the battery is charged, open up the Arial.

This minigame is pretty simple, no tips really. Just watch closely and mimic the colors/tones. Be warned–the first round is only three tones. Then four. Then five. Once you’re into the system, turn off the vents, turn on the lifts, and turn off the security cameras. If you didn’t make any mistakes while hacking, you have a cool fifty.

Mouse over Lucas–lob a grenade. Then, when the game allows you, hop up on the truck. When it detonates, it’ll loosen the elevator doors the chair locking Kla in is wedged against. Hop back down.

Back to Kla. Close the window, then hit the door once. That’ll knock the chair down–open the door again and exit. Make sure to leave the door open for the sake of something I’ll tell you later.

OBJECTIVE TWO — COMPLETE!

OBJECTIVE THREE: CONTACT AGENT STEVE

Still as Kla, head over twice and up the stairs.

Once you get to the second floor offices, move once to the right and dial the phone. Kla will order a pizza–eventually Steve will arrive on a coincidentally stolen pizza bike. Another cool hundred for you!

OBJECTIVE THREE — COMPLETE!

HIDDEN OBJECTIVE B: FLOWER NUMBER TWO

Have Steve climb up the tree. Mouse over him and select the option with the target of a door. Careful shooting will net you a cool fifty. Now that the door is unlocked, have Kla go back downstairs and open it. Now head back over to the left twice and close the bathroom door. Let the room fill up but don’t wait TOO long. When it is full, open the door to send a tidal wave across the offices into the copy room and grow another flower. More joy and another hundred points!

HIDDEN OBJECTIVE B — COMPLETE!

OBJECTIVE FOUR: CREATE VAULT ENTRY POINT

Simply close the door and let it alone. Eventually, the floor will collapse, providing an entry point for later–but you need to rescue the hostages first.

OBJECTIVE FOUR — COMPLETE!

OBJECTIVE FIVE: GET LUCAS ONTO THE ROOF

Go over to Ryoh. He should be as far to the left as he can go. Slice the antenna. The Arial will be damaged, but it’ll be worth it–the metal conductor sphere will knock over the left bank sign, giving Lucas a way up. Sort of.

Back down to Lucas. Lob a grenade and hop back up on the car. You’ll notice that there’s a curvy arrow, one that I hope you haven’t used yet? Click it. Lucas will ride the explosion up to the top of the building and net you another hundred.

OBJECTIVE FIVE — COMPLETE!

OBJECTIVE SIX: GET RYOH INTO BANK AND RESCUE SECOND FLOOR HOSTAGES

Head Kla over to the computers in the first floor offices. Access them and hack–it’s the same deal as last time, except there’s a fifth tonal option. Once you’re in, turn the ventilation back on. Perfect hacking gets you another fifty.

Up to Lucas–you now have the option to lob a smoke bomb through the vents. Please do so. The Groundhog inside will open a window to flood the smoke.

Now for Ryoh! Head him over as far right as he can go, then slice the sign. Once you do, you’ll see he can go farther right now. He’ll hop off and stick a sword into the window.

Now over to Stevie in the tree. Take aim at the Groundhog in the window–fifty for a perfect. Ryoh will fall down, as the window will move, and swing through the second floor window. Defeat the Groundhog in combat–CAREFUL. He almost always goes for a low stab right away, and since you start with a high block, I recommend a quick counter attack. Perfect swordplay nets you another fifty.

Now free the hostages for another hundred points.

OBJECTIVE SIX — COMPLETE!

OBJECTIVE SEVEN: RESCUE THE LOBBY HOSTAGES

Mouse over to Steve and head down. The pizza guy will arrive and deliver his pizza, causing the moronic Groundhogs to open the door. Once the pizza guy leaves, you can climb down. They won’t see you. Take aim and fire at the first one. His friend will think he had a heart attack–and not care, no less. Shoot the other. Two perfect shots nets you a cool hundred here.

Head inside the lobby and free the girls for a hundred. Head back outside.

OBJECTIVE SEVEN — COMPLETE!

OBJECTIVE EIGHT: REACH THE SECURITY LEVEL AND RESCUE ITS HOSTAGES

If you’re playing as written, Kla should be on the first floor by a computer. Head him all the way over to the copy room with its flower. Photocopy your face. Now head up to the second floor.

When you get there, open the window. Now move over, mouse Kla, and click the paper logo. You’ll drop the paper under the door and make the Groundhog on the other side thing he’s being attacked by a Warbear. My God these guys are dumb. Anyway, he’ll be bumping on that door so you might as well let him in–and let him run out the window and die. The cleverness of that kill nets you a hundred.

Head out of the room to the right and open the door to where the hostages and Ryoh are. Now head up to the security level. You get a hundred big ones for reaching the mainframe–now walk over to the right, so Kla’s in front of the mainframe.

Now back to Ryoh. Head to the left. He’ll get attacked by a spider and run back. (Yes, seriously.) Not to worry, there’s a new option! Mouse over him and click the odd ‘down’ arrow. Ryoh will hop out the window. On the ledge, walk left, then hop back in.

Now simply hit the up arrow to reach the mainframe level. Free the hostages for a hundred clams.

OBJECTIVE EIGHT — COMPLETE!

OBJECTIVE NINE: ACCESS THE MAINFRAME

Dirt simple. Send Ryoh over to the right. Now slice off the padlock on the cabinet. This should reveal a generator switch. Flick it on.

Over to Kla now. Access the mainframe to see what Herr Hogg is up to.

OBJECTIVE NINE — COMPLETE!

OBJECTIVE TEN: PENETRATE THE VAULT

Kla sends the lift up to Lucas. Oblige by heading down. Since you ever so nicely collapsed the floor before, simply open the door in front of you, then hop down.

Mouse Lucas and select the square shaped icon.

You now have to wire a bomb.

Select the bottom of your column of options and place it in the middle of the bottom row, as well as diagonally up and to your left. Now select the top option of wiring (looks like a tire iron) and put it in the final blank. Kla will send down the left and every Groundhog in there will be frozen solid.

Open the vault.

Over to Steve–who has a new option, wow! It looks like a wheel. It is a wheel. Click on it and he’ll ride the bike over to where Lucas is.

Now to Lucas. Walk right and then hop on the scooter. Now get Steve to hop on behind. When you penetrate the vault, the Groundhogs will get away in their molemachine.

OBJECTIVE TEN — COMPLETE!

OBJECTIVE ELEVEN — ELIMINATE THE GROUNDHOG LEADER

The trick to this is not just to use the gas, but the brake/reverse as well to avoid the things they lob at you altogether–they don’t kill you but bog you way, way down.

Steve can take a potshot at a spike-tosser when you have the bike somewhere around the middle between the left side of the screen and the molemachine. You seem to get TWO shots at this to get your points for a kill, so yay! There are three henchmen to kill, and they throw progressively more spikes each time, so the faster you take them out, the less of a headache they are. That’s a hundred and fifty points, if you nailed them all within your allotted two shots.

Now for Adolf Hogler himself! He throws up to four spikes at once, so speed is of the essence, although it’s possible to take him out over a long period of time. Try to stay just behind where the spikes will land, and score a cheapshot inbetween the bounces of two spikes. Another fifty for you, and Steve got to satisfy that lust for killing Nazis we all know he had.

OBJECTIVE ELEVEN — COMPLETE!

OBJECTIVE TWELVE: STOP THE MACHINE!

It’s getting away with the money!

Wait around the middle at take a shot at the entry ramp. That should bring it down and allow you to drive up onto it. Lucas and Steve will get off the bike. Simply use Lucas to walk to the right, and then stop the machine.

OBJECTIVE TWELVE — COMPLETE!

WARBEARS MISSION ONE — COMPLETE!

That is the walkthrough. Sorry about how long it is. What do you expect? It's a really, really, long game. See Ya!

Pics of SSBB (Super Smash Bros. Brawl)

Here's a funny one!
Hope you liked it!

Pure Awesomeness: SSBB Image Converter

Yes! Awesome!
I found a program that converts files from Wii SD cards so they can be read on the computer as image files! Yay! Wow, that sounded really nerdy..... Basically what the program is, is a program that changes the type of files that you can take on the Wii, and turns them into files that you can actually view on your computer! You can get it HERE!

Thing-Thing

Thing-Thing is a really fun shooter game series. I don't feel like making a link (yes, I'm that lazy) so just go to pretty much any game site (almost all game sites have the thing thing games). I suggest Crazy Monkey Games because their the ones who sponsor the thing-thing games. Below is a pic of my character in thing-thing arena 2:

NOTE: The Thing-Thing game series has a lot of blood and gore. See Ya!

Video Game Music of the Day! - Still hasn't been answered yet!

You people can still answer my video game music of the day question. I'll give you a hint because nobody's asked for one yet.
It's a really big hint!

This music is featured in "Super Smash Bros. Melee" and *blank* (series of games).
You can either:
1. Fill in the blank
2. Comment on which stage the music is from in "Super Smash Bros."
3. Randomly guess
4. Ask for even more help

You can find the post by scrolling down the page!

Warbears!

I figured it out! While I was on Kongregate, there was a badge for a game called Warbears, and, guess what, that's the panda game I was trying to figure out the name of. HERE is the website. Check it out. In the Warbears "universe" there's a city called Bedtime City and they have an online game that takes place there. Check that ou too. See Ya!

RE: M.U.G.E.N.

Another place to download "Mugen" is HERE. But you have to have an account on that website to download it. But trust me, it's worth it. See Ya!

Mugen

Normally, I won't be posting news about PC games, but MUGEN is so cool, I had to make a post about it. MUGEN is an awesome fighting game where you can import characters from all kinds of fighting games (ex. Hulk, Ryu), characters that wouldn't normally be in fighting games (ex.Ronald McDonald, Fred Flinstone) , and even your own characters! You can download Mugen here.

Pick "Hi-res Mugen"!

New Video Game Music (on the wrong blog)

Sorry guys, I posted my video game music of the day on the wrong blog! I posted it on my "Crash" blog instead of this one. This time instead of (accidentally)linking it forbiddingly, I mixed the music into Windows Movie Maker an posted it, so you guys should be able to listen to it! Click here to view my video game music post at Crash.

Fire Emblem 3: Mystery of the Emblem Gameplay Video

I cannot figure out how to upload my own videos of emulated gameplay, so for now I will just post a gameplay video of Fire Emblem from Youtube. Here's a video of the Fire Emblem game which was only released in Japan. By the way, the third game is a remake of the first one, plus a new book ( kind of like a new game on it's own).

P.S: The weird scrambled lettering is not Japanese, it's just an error with the ROM and the translating patch.

Commenting

Ok people! Since no one is answering my Video Game Music of the Day question I'm gonna tell you something. Comment even if you don't know the answer! Yes, and that means you "The Splatter"!

What the heck.....Another Blog?

Hey guys!

I made another blog that's focused on......nothing. It's a random blog, that's what it is! Click here to view it. I have a feeling that it won't be updated very much though because I don't know what to put on it. The URL is http://randomstuffisverygood.blogspot.com/

(Almost) Live Post!

This video tells you what...........................
Y'know, I think you should just watch the video!
Yes, I know my hair is messy....
Also, the thing that I'm constantly looking at is the computer screen, and the light from the computer screen is why one side of my face is really white.

Fire Emblem

Fire Emblem's combat system is like 'Rock, Paper, Scissors", because each weapon has an advantage against another type, and a weakness to another type. The basic weapon triangle of Fire Emblem is "Lance beats sword, sword beats axe, and axe beats lance". There are other weapons like bows, which aren't at all effected by this weapon triangle though. There is also a magic triangle, but it differs between games.

Characters

The characters in the Fire Emblem series are much like real people (in a way). Each character has their own unique personality and backstory. In most of the "Fire Emblem" games, you start with a small party of characters, and as you advance through the game, you can get many more. Using these characters to fight the enemy lets the gain experience points, and once you get 100, your character will level up. For certain characters as they level up they may have the ability to "promote", which brings the character up to a more powerful class. Sometimes you can use special items on characters to instantly promote them, or sometimes characters promote as part of the story of a particular game.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This will still be continued!

Joey's Pokemon Blog

Joey made a Pokemon blog! It isn't very exciting now, but hopefully it gets better (remember, I said hopefully). So far it just has a couple pictures of starter Pokemon, but you still may want to look at it. Click here to view it.
By the way, it's just a Pokemon blog, not a video game blog in general like mine.

Video Game Spotlight of the Day

Hey guys! It's Andy again, just to start my feature "Video Game Spotlight of the Day"!
The first spotlight is going on the Fire Emblem series!
Fire Emblem is an awesome tactical role-playing game that has been with Nintendo since the NES, all the way to the Wii. So far the series spans 11 games, and the most recent one is for the Wii, "Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn". The series is well known for being one of the first strategy games ever, and is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more well known in Japan than anywhere else, because only four of the Fire Emblem games were released outside of Japan. The first system that Fire Emblem has been on in the US is the GBA.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By the way, this spotlight will be continued!

Video Game Music of the Day!

Since it seems no one noticed on my old blog, I'm going to repost the video game music of the day.
No hints though!
There's a way to cheat, but you don't get money for being right, so it doesn't matter.
Click here to listen, and comment if you know it!
I will be sad if know one knows it, and if you need a hint, comment and ask for help.

Video Game Character

I'm trying to make this one as hard as possible!

Clue 1: This character first appeared in a 1981 arcade game
Clue 2: This character had a different name in this arcade game than this character does now.
Clue 3: In this character first game, the character scales a construction site while dodging barrels.

Think you know the answer? Comment! Need some extra help? Comment!

Hmmm.....................

I have an idea! Here's a list of features that I'll update in some period of time:

Video Game Character of the Day
Video Game Music of the Day
Video Game Spotlight of the Day

And more! By the way, these features will probably end up not being updated every day.

My Second Blog

This is my second blog dedicated to random video game stuff, including video game music, "Name the Video Game", or I don't know, because I will kind of make up stuff as I go along. This means that my features about video games on my other blog will be cancelled until further notice, and will be on this blog instead. Also, if you'd like to check out my old blog, click here.
